Last Friday, 4 people were injured in railroad accident in Elsberry, Missouri.  The 4 victims included a 45-year old driver, his 43-year old wife, a 16-year old, and a 10-year old.

The accident happened at a railroad crossing near Highway P.  Reports indicate that the family stopped at a railroad crossing where a northbound train was stopped.  Then, the 45-year old driver took a road to a private crossing to move around the stopped train.

The driver of the vehicle was unaware that the northbound train was stopped for a train traveling southbound because he could not see around the stopped train.  There were no signals at the private crossing and the man pulled his family’s vehicle out into the path of the southbound train.

The two parents were taken to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center for treatment.  The 45-year old driver, husband, and father was listed in fair condition and the 43-year old mother and wife was in serious, but stable condition.  The children were treated and released from hospitals in the St. Louis area.
